Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
apt. rent judgement
I have a roommate that is trying to file paperwork to get a judgement passed on me to automatically take my rent money out of my paychecks. The paychecks are too small to pay the whole rent. My question is, If I've paid the rent every month even though I gave it to her late can she still do that? She's paid it on time so far and I've given her the money for it before the month is over. What can she actually do?

Re: apt. rent judgement
If your agreement with her includes late fees, she can sue you for the late fees and, if she wins, have the money garnished from your paycheck. She can't, however, have your future rent deducted from your check.
