Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
Breaking apt. lease - roaches
I have been finding roaches in my apt for the last 6 weeks. They have been in my dresser drawers, clean dishwasher, on my kitchen counters, etc. The landlords have the apt sprayed every month, but I still have roaches. They spray about once a week since I told them I have roaches. They said roaches were common b/c of construction in the next building and because of rain. With 2 months left, I want to break the lease and get out. Is this possible?

Probably not. Roaches are very common in Florida, especially during the rainy summer months where they are trying to find a dry spot like you and I are trying to do. If the landlord is taking reasonable steps to correct or control the problem, you will generally not be allowed to break the lease without severe consequences.
