Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
Breaking Lease Buying home
I need to know if there is any law stating that if you buy a home that you can break your lease without penalty. There is no clause in my Lease stating that this is ok. They want about 1500 dollars from us to leave so that we can buy this home. I can not afford this b/c I am buying a home and all the expenses. I have great credit and I love this home that we will be getting. What are the legal rights that I have?

Re: Breaking Lease Buying home
The simple answer to your question is that there is not a Florida law that supports breaking your lease when buying a home. We advise negotiating with the Landlord and attempting to mitigate a penalty fee. If you need assistance in negotiating with your Landlord, please contact our office.
