Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

We are British citizens resident in UK. We rented a vacation home for 8 days in Florida. The property had significant deficiencies. We complained to the Landlord who refused to repair the deficiencies, but was annoyed that we had complained. He is now withholding our $500 cash deposit. What rights do we have as foreign nationals residing overseas? How we can force the landlord to refund our cash deposit. We had a tenancy agreement signed under Florida state law. Thanks

You can sue in small claims court, but it may be too much trouble.

YOu can file a suit in small claims court for the return of the funds. This can be done online and you can make arrangements with the judge's office to appear by telephone. Once you file, you will get the name of the judge who will preside - contact that court and find out the number to call for that judge to make the arrangements. His judicial assistant will help you.
