Landlords RARELY accept the responsibility for damages, that is almost always a charge put on the tenant. You should check your lease to see if it addresses these issues specifically. If not, you will likely be responsible for all costs related to making the apartment rentable again.

It is possible that the landlord MAY apply additional pet fees (paid up-front or each month) toward the cost of repairs. It depends on your lease and the written pet policy. In reality, it also depends on whether the landlord is a person (private owner) or an entity (apartment complex).

In my own personal experience, I rented a condo from an individual, and I paid a $300 non-refundable pet fee for my cat. Over the two years I lived there, my cat shredded the screens on the patio. Before I moved, I had the screens replaced (through the condo association's maintenance staff). The landlord was sent the bill, and she applied my pet fee to the cost of the repair. I did not have to pay any more money out of pocket for the repair.

Review the lease and policies first, then ask the landlord.
