Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
Co-signer's signature being carried over on lease?
I signed for an apartment and my parent co-signed for a 8 month lease. I re-signed for another year by myself but later found out it carried my parents signature over for the new lease, is that legal? If I can't make a payment on the apartment, they'll go after my parents even though they only signed the lease once for a 8 month period that already has passed.

You probably signed an extension of the original lease rather than signing an entirely new lease (which they may not have let you do). When you did that, you extended the lease that had both you and your parents, you didn't create a brand new lease with just your name on it.
