Being Evicted

I have been living in my apartment for 3 years. I have been out of work since May however, I have been making my rent payment late but making it. I have been paying the late fee. My lease is up at the end of Sept.I paid July rent late 2 weeks and they served me with an eviction notice. So I went to the court and paid it. So I asked them if i could get into a smaller apartment at the end of my lease. They said no. I would have to move. Can they do this?

Since you paid it, I would think the court will let you stay until Sept. Speak to the judge.
