Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
My family and I have just been informed, by our co-worker that we have been staying with for the last 3 months, that we have until tomorrow to find somewhere else to stay. We have nowhere else to go, we have been paying half of all the bills and buying groceries for the household. I am 6 months pregnant and we have a 1 yr old son. We have been receiving mail at that residence also. can they kick us out with no notice at all?

More notice should be given than 1 day. You have an agreement basically subletting from the co-worker. Usually, when there is no written contract, the tenancy is month to month and 15 days notice is required. If you have already paid your share of the rent for this month, it being only the 6th, you should be entitled to stay for the entire month. Tell the co-worker that the notice is legally insufficient pursuant to Florida Law.
I agree with Mr. Groot. So sorry this has happened to you. Try to work this out with them but stand firm on notice so that you can at least find a place to live.
