Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Fire at apartment destroyed my car...

Hello, I live at a college apartment. I parked my car in front of the building near some trash cans where people can throw there trash out. Later that night, the trash cans were on fire and since my car was next to them... it got totaled. Is it possible to pursue any legal action against the ownership? Negligence or something? I had a lot of stuff (college text books, ipod, skateboard etc) that is not covered by insurance. Plus I have to pay the deductible. Also, I don't believe the fire alarm in my building was working.

Thanks!

The owners of the complex would have to actually be negligent in order for you to recover for negligence. Your post doesn't indicate why you think they would be negligent. Was your parking space assigned by management, or did you choose it?

If the fire was set intentionally, and if the person responsible is caught, you could sue them individually.

Another question is, do you have renter's insurance? Many of these policies will cover contents in your vehicle (like a home owner's policy)
