Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
Foreclosure on the landlord
I was served with papers that my landlord is in default and being foreclosed on by the mortgage company. I am sending a written response to the courts and plantiffs attorney but rent will be due before they receive the letter, do I pay the landlord as I have been according to my lease or wait to hear from courts? I called the plantiffs attorney and they say to bring the payment here, but when I asked about paper work requesting the rent be paid to their firm they got irritated with me and said they will just evict me. Who should I pay my rent to, its due in 6 days?

To be safe, you can pay your rent into the Registry of the Court. The monies will be held by the court and then paid to the party determined to be entitled by the court upon a motion filed by the prevailing party.
Unfortunately, most of the firms who handle a large volume of foreclosure work are extremely difficult to deal with, even if you are not the party in the wrong.

You can pay it to your local county court clerk and obtain a receipt.
