Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
I am currently a house with my cousin. I occupy one of the rooms while my cousin and his family have the rest of the house. My landlord is now threatening to change the locks and stop my mail. The rent is paid by everyone in the house. We put it all together and pay in full now they are saying I owe more and didnt pay my part. So I am now the only one being evicted but the lease is for everyone. He also altered the lease and copyied the signiture part, second page, and rewrote the first page. I have 2 boys that I am a full time parent of. The landlord even wrote on the termination letter that everyone in the house knows about me not paying and I am starting drama by not leaving. I dont know what to do. I paid my rent and now face not having a place to go to if he changes the locks and refuses me acess to the home I pay for.

Until he takes some action, you have nothing to base your claim on. If he serves you eviction notice then follow the rules on the notice, you can place your share of the rent in the depository at the court until a hearing can be held. I suggest you get an attorney on this as forgery is a felony and if he has changed the lease and it is evident from the copy that you have - you may have a case against him.
