Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I had a house fire, the landlord had one battery operated smoke detector I was responsible for but the fire Marshall said he was required to have two hardwired into the home. All the walls and my belongings, furniture, etc covered in black soot, and his insurance adjuster named roughly 25k to replace ceilings, cabinetry, appliances, etc. If there had been a working smoke detector hardwired my kitchen wouldn't have gone up in flames. The auditor and for Marshall were done 6 days ago and nothing's been done, I've been cleaning as much as possible, this is Florida how fast dies he need to replaced charred burnt out cabinetry and replace the stove and install smoke detectors and do I have recourse for my possessions since this could have been prevented?

Did the one fire detector that you did have work? Did you fail to maintain it? Sounds like you have a difficult liability claim against the landlord and possibly a huge comparative claim on your own. Your lease controls how and when the repairs need to be made. Review the lease with an attorney.
