Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
The house i rent is in foreclosure. It is managed by a reality company for the owner of the house. The lady calls me today and says they are going to rent out the house to someone else since i havent paid in 2 weeks (which i was advised not to pay anymore since the owner is not paying and the foreclosure is in the court). She said they are going to rent it out for 200 dollars cheaper a month if i wanted to stay that i need to pay that or i need to move asap so they can rent it out to someone else. I feel like they are just trying to take someone's money while they can since the house is in foreclosure. She said the owner is trying to pull the house out of foreclosure from the lender, but i didnt think he could do that since the foreclosure is already in the court, but he cant do that because there is no income coming in right now from the property. It has only been 2 weeks that i havent paid and my question is where is all the money that i have been paying for the past year and a half.....is this even legal? can they make me move and re-rent the house even if i have a lease?

If you haven't paid your rent, then the landlord can evict you. You still have an obligation to pay rent under the lease even if the landlord is going through foreclosure or loan modification process. A landlord can cure a default and not lose the property in a foreclosure process.
