Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
So my husband and I broke our lease and are trying to figure out how long the landlord has to sue us before he can't anymore? We spoke with them and they said they would let us out of the contract i asked if they would email me something stating that and was told that they would not provide such a statement. I am just trying to get this resolved we have been cordial and i don't understand why they have changed their minds. How long do they have before they can't sue us? They told us they didn't have the money to sue now i feel like they are just waiting until they do? What should i do?

Sounds to me they allowed you to break the lease. Have you move? I doubt that they will refund any deposit. If you have not moved then give them notice as to why you are leaving and state that in your letter (certified return reeipt of course) and also mention the conversation you had with them that they wer eallowing you to break your lease. That way in the future if you need, you have something in writing that they accepted and were aware of.
They have five years to sue for breach of a written contract.
