Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
My husband and I live in an apartment. Shortly after move-in (February 28th of this year), the complex began an extensive rehab of the outside of our building. We were not disclosed this info when we signed our lease. Due to the noise, mess and constant intrusion in and out of our apartment, we complained to the leasing office who stated that we could break our lease early, with no penalties, if we wished. We chose to do so, and on May 30, provided management with a notice to vacate on August 31. Since then, we have decided it would be in our best interest to remain renting our apartment until the original lease is up, which is February 27, 2013. Can we renege on the August 31 notice to vacate?
