Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
my husband &I were given notice that the landlord is not going to renew our lease,(end Jan 31, 2010).
Is there any legal way we can stay in the apartment until March 15th, 2010. We have done nothing wrong , pay rent on time. They said they felt we were unhappy here as we complained about things to them. We can't afford to move until March as both my husband & I are on Social Security Disability.

Your landlord is not obligated to renew your lease or allow you to stay until March. See terms in your lease for "holdover" (failure to vacate at the end of the lease); usually rent increases dramatically for a holdover tenant (like, 50% more).
The best you can do is ask the landlord if you can stay month-to-month or week-to-week through March.
Nope. You must leave when the lease is up.
The landlord does not have to allow you to stay or renew the lease. There will be a penalty for holding over. There is free information on Florida Landlord Tenant Law at http://www.800helpfla.com/landlord_text.html
