A new law says you can continue to pay fair rent under your old lease or, if you had no lease, pay fair rent for 90 days. However, the new owner may have bought the house before the new law came into effect. If so, you may not have an option. Maybe you can ask the owner for a "cash for keys" deal where they pay you to move. The deals are common. See if you can work one out. It can't hurt to ask, especially if you act like a squeaky wheel.
