Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

kicking out a reletive

My grandmother is letting my brother live with her but he has become horrid. She wants to know if she can kick him out without needing to go through the eviction process. He does not pay rent, pay part of utilities, or pay for any food or toiletries. There is no lease agreement. He has threatened her with breaking down the front door if she locks him out. Other then evicting what can she do?

Re: kicking out a reletive

If the police will honor a trespass warning against your brother by your grandmother, then she may not need to follow the eviction procedure. The police will simply arrest him when he comes back.

Most of the time however, the police will not arrest an invited guest. Then, your grandmother will have no other choice but to evict him.
