Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I sent my landlord a 7 day notice to repair via certified letter. The house had several types of toxic mold & electical issues (electric not up to code). He made no attempt to repair anything. I ended up moving out & I intend to sue for constructive eviction. I just received a letter from the landlord stating that if I want my deposit back, I have to sign a release form. Is this legal? It's almost like blackmail or something.

If you want to get the security back without a problem AND you have no other pending claims, you can sign and it is easy. If you have other claims that you want to pursue, then don't sign. Agreements trading claims are valid and legal. It is the only leverage he has over you and he is using it. Seek some legal help with all your details.
