Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

landlord

my landlord say's that because one of their employee's embezzled $150,000.00 from them. The apartment complex is now saying they will not be able to refund anyone's deposit. Is this legal?

Re: landlord

No. They should have had insurance for this. In any event, just because their employee stole from them does not mean that they do not owe you. It may be hard for them to pay and they may need to work out a payment schedule, but they owe you the deposit.
