Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
My landlord is letting me terminate my lease agreement because I have filed a complaint with the BBB and have notified him via certified mail of my intent to withhold rent due to failure of the landlord to make repairs (AC/plumbing/electrical.) The landlord is requesting I pay the remaining rent until I move out (60 days). I've already paid a deposit and the last months' rent. Does the landlord have the legal right to keep this money ($1750.00) since my lease is being terminated early?
