Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

My landlord does not want to renew my lease because he found out I am a sex offender. I have lived almost 1 yr here. Being an SO I know that I must try to find another place asap. I am on probation as well. My lease expires in June.My question is, Since he told me I have to move at the end of my lease can I move now instead of waiting till June because it hard to find a place and I may have one but if I wait , it may not be available? Thanks

In a word, no. You have a lease that's in force until June. Your status as a SO has no bearing on the validity of the contractual terms of the lease. You are obligated to adhere to the terms of the Lease. If your want to rent another place now, you can, but you will be obligated on 2 leases for several months. The other option you have is to try to talk your present LL into releasing you from your present lease, but he has no legal or moral obligation to do so. None.

Your lease agreement controls. if he wants you out thought he may agree to end the lease early. if you have an opportunity, I would let him know in writing and see if he agrees to terminate early without penalty.
