Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
Landlord Tenant dispute
I have been renting a property (house) for 3yrs. I renewed my lease in August 2006 and paid a $500 security deposit to the realtor who was managing the property. Well in 2008 the home went into foreclosure. I talked to the owner about purchasing the property and she told me to stop paying the rent to save for closing. I spoke to her about the security deposit and she told me she knew nothing of it. The realtor had collected it without her knowing. I asked him about returning the deposit and he said that me and the owner broke the lease because she told me to stop paying the rent. The owner wants him to give the money back. Do I have a case to get my money back!
