Does a landlord have the right to throw away belongings when they come into our apartment to exterminate?

Maybe. It probably depends on what the "belonging" is, and the condition of it. For example, suppose you have a couch in your place that stinks of urine and is infested with fleas and roaches. There might be a law that allows the LL to throw that couch away under health and safety concerns.

Im not sure I agree with Mr. Kaufman on this issue. I would believe that the Health Dept would have to come in and make that decision. The landlord has no right to destroy or remove anything unless the apartment tenant has moved and/or evicted.
