Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

my landlords are not being helpful in removing squirrels from my attic. i have contacted animal control on my own and was told they need to go through property management as that is the property's responsibility. i have contacted the complaint line for my complex and did not get any better service. i have spoken to my community management themselves numerous times of the problem. i am concerned of the safety of my two month old son and my family. what should be my next step?

I suggest that you write a letter to your landlord detailing the problem and your concerns. Keep a copy for yourself. If you wind up taking your landlord to court, you need documents to show to the judge. If you would like to consult further on the matter, please contact my law office at 813-951-6187.

Be sure you send a certified return receipt letter - that way you have proof they received it. Squirrels do carry disease and you should be concerned. I would contact the health department and report this to them. If he does not cure the problem, read your lease to see about breaking it and move.
