Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I would like to know if I am legally obligated to reissue a check that I wrote to my landlord for my share of the 2008 taxes owed on the building that I rent a space in. My agreement with the landlord is that I can pay him my share, as all his tenent's there share what he owes per year for taxes on the bulding, in 4 separate payments which I did.

The check somehow got misplaced by him and now he wants me to write him another check because our bank, which has changed hands twice since that check was written, is refusing to accept it because it's been over 6 months since the check was written.

The check, which he did not return to me, only a copy of the front of the check, is dated 2/2/09.

Do I reissue a new check or not?

Thank you,

D J Tuttle

put a stop payment on the prior check - if there is a charge - let the landlord know that he will have to pay for that, then issue him a new check less the charge.
