Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I live in a apartment complex that I signed a 12 month lease and 10 months is remaining. My mom has become ill, in which someone must watch her 24/7. I'm the only one that can do that. Thus I must break my lease, do I have any legal standing? or will I be responsibile for the 10 months?

Legal standing? Standing means that you are an appropriate party to litigate an issue. Perhaps you mean do you have any legal way out of the lease? You will be responsible for the term of the lease. If you break the lease, the landlord must make sincere efforts to mitigate his damages, and find another tenant. In the event that he is not successful, you will be liable. You would be smart to have a real estate attorney review your lease, and apply the law to the facts of your case, and perhaps write a letter to your landlord.
