Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I live in Coral Gables, Florida in a two story, four unit apartment building. Since I have moved in, I have been compaining to the landlord about termites. After countless conversations and one argument the landlord has Terminix come in and inspect the building. According to Terminix, the building is infested and their recommendation was to tent the buidling; for some reason or another, the landlord is against tenting so Terminix has done the best they can with spot treatments but the termite problem continues and progressivley becomes worst. This building was constructed in the 1930's and the entire structure is made out of wood. My fear is that this building collapses with me in it. Legally, what can I do?

FS 83 gives you a remedy which may result in a reduction of rent or termination of lease.

There is no risk to your health however there is to your property. Check your books and wood frames, wood hangers etc. I would get a copy of the report from the termite people as you will need for evidence if you leave and break your lease. YOu will probably lose your deposit but if it is an issue then take the landlord to court.
