Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
I live in florida and my lease ended over a year ago. Now its just month to month. I always paid rent on time. I started have issues like lights shorting out and i was worrief about fire hazard.land lord rigged it and refused to fix right cause the lighting is not up todate. We have mice rat issues called him refused to call pest control just put a couple traps down called him back wouldnt do anything. Toliet backed up and called him he refused to call a plumber and it took him 2 weeks to respond had to have toliet backed up with poop in it still not fixed. So on nov 29 called him and told him i was going to move out. Have 4 kids and felt like health and safety issue. Ask him about my secerity deposit and last months rent. Told me no. So i left this morning and while i was gone he took the door handles off the doors and broke in. So i called him and he basicly said he can do what he wants .is this allowed. Can he break in and keep all my money. Scum lord..not a landlord. Help

Your lease agreement, even though expired, controls. You need to have it reviewed. The issues which you reference are no longer important as you have terminated the lease. Have you followed the procedures within the lease to properly terminate it? Consult with an attorney locally to verify your rights.
