Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I have been living in my apartment since Feb 2010. At the time I moved in there was a window that needed to be replaced and I was informed that it would be replaced in two weeks, so I decided that I would go ahead and move in. It is now May 2010 and the window has yet to be fixed, now I'm being informed that the repairs are not in their budget. Can I legally pay for the repairs and deduct the cost from the rent?

Get it in writing from the landlord - otherwise you are on the hook for the repairs - if you make them.

YOu can submit a letter in writing - certified mail return receipt requested that if the window is not fixed within two weeks, you will move - then do it. They must refund your deposit - less any wear and tear.
