Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Last Month Rent

We are renting an apt. and gave our 30 days notice. Unfortunately, due to the economy and war etc.. it is difficult to pay the last month rent and I asked the leasing office if they can work with us to get the rent paid. They said they will need to file for eviction and turn over to the courts which will then cost even more due to court costs etc. Do we have any recourse? We offered to pay over several months until it is paid off. We also have 1K in deposits which we will get back however they will not use toward rent.

Re: Last Month Rent

Pay them something, even if it is $100. Under Florida law, if the landlord accepts payment, even if it is less than full amount (that is they deposit your check or take your cash), then they cannot disposses you from the property.

Security deposit is seperate than rent and cannot be used.

Good luck.
