Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

We moved into a trailer on March 28th of this year, no electricity til April 26th there. On April 12th we were given lease papers with verbal agreement to pay the rent with our work performed on the property. WE kept a work journal with hrs.,etc. Our work added up to more than the rent amount. Suddenly in June they arbitrarily changed what we had agreed upon, demanding money from us without paying us what they owe. Now in July we have heard they want to serve us papers. Can they change the terms of our agreement like that mid way, and what recourse do we have to the work hours we put in over and above the rental amount?

If they do not honor the verbal part of your agreement, then you will have to sue them in small claims court to recover.
