Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
We are moving into a rental condo in a community that's managed with association. A few weeks ago, the rear glass door was shattered. The mgmt office boarded it up and ordered a replacement. They found out we were moving in and now say we are responsible. We will be paying over $300 a month in association dues. Is it our responsibility to repair something that happened prior to us moving in or signing lease?

Of course not, unless there is a strange provision in your lease somewhere. It sounds like the association is trying to take advantage of you... be careful.
Do you have a written lease? Does it provide for the party to pay for such losses? Does it provide for you being responsible for losses prior to your taking possession? I think you are not responsible and that you need to make it clear about the timing of the events for them. I would deal with them in writing also. Have you already moved in or are you still in that process.
