Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

My neighbor broke my front door lock. Police came and I did not want kid in trouble, police looked then left. I told landlord's agent, she rented apt to us, one year lease, etc. Door lock has not been fixed and it is now more than 1 month. Landlord's agent said she is waiting on a part on order. Rent is coming due. We paid 1st, last, 1 month security, only asked for 1st, security. At end of year, we were not asked to renew lease, I assume we are on month to month now. We are planning on moving in two months + 8 days. March 8, 2011. Can I withhold rent until the door lock is fixed or we move? I have NOT called landlord yet. If we are staying two months (+ 8 days more than we have paid prior) can I make partial payment and stop paying rent? landlord will come when rent is 7 days late?

Look at the lease you had with the landlord =you will need to comply in order to be released from your unit.
