Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
Paid $500 to rent a bedroom with kitchen privileges for 1 month - no lease involved, no written agreement - after 11 days of occupancy, decided to move out due to aggressive behavior and verbal abuse from landlord who also resides in the home in which I rented a bedroom/bath. I requested a pro-rata refund of rent but was told by landlord that no refund would be forthcoming. Do I have recourse in this matter i.e. small claims court?

If you had a month-to-month lease, you were required to give 15 days notice of intention to vacate. I heard no notice. You are, therefore, not entitled to a refund of the rent you paid for one full month. Sorry for the bad news, and please don't shoot the messenger.
