Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
I have put a stop payment on a rent check because my wife and I are separating and not staying at the current place. Is stopping the payment on the check a criminal offense as compared to just letting it bounce from insufficient funds?

It becomes criminal if you bounce a check. Stop payment is legal. However, then you will need to deal with the issue of rent being owed.
