Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

My question is in concerns to what steps as a tenant can I take in the following situation:

My landlord wishes to move me from the master bedroom of one apartment to another room of lesser value on the same premises. My contract was for one year and had a clause that would allow the landlord to move me so long as I was payed damages. The problem is that I am being moved from a master bedroom to a smaller room, when my contract specifically stated that I was to have a master bedroom.

Does this action nullify the contract and should I wish free me from my lease agreement?

It depends on what your contract states. By your own admission, it does state that the landlord may move you from the master to another room of lesser value. If you are paid damages or allowed to pay less rent but still want to move, you will probably have to ask your landlord for permission (get it in writing) unless there is a provision in the lease that allows you to do so. I cannot provide a definitive answer without reviewing your lease. Contact an attorney or legal aid clinic for additional assistance. Regards,
