Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
I was recently married but my husband unexpectedly passed away. His name was the only one on the lease. When I move, am I entitled to the security deposit? They said it is going to the state since my name was not on the lease.

You are entitled to your husband's estate. The security deposit is personal property, and is inherited by his estate. You may have to hire an attorney to send your landlord a letter.

It goes to the estate, not to the state. As the souse, you will get it assuming creditors claims are paid.
