Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
i recently moved in to an apt. complex in Newberry, FL.....i am 62 yrs old on disability and live alone....i have no domestic pets as they are not permitted here unless for a medical reason....since moving in i have found it relaxing and enjoyable to watch the squirrels outside....i purchased some food to treat them and have been told by the maint. man (husband of property mgr.) to STOP feeding them immediately....tried to explain it's the only thing i have that gives me enjoyment other than TV or crafts.....relaxing to watch them....i spoke w/mgr and she said not to worry about it as her husband was looking for something to complain about most of the time.....my home is clean and the squirrels are outside in the open yard....not destroying anything so how can they now demand that i STOP feeding them as the husband spoke w/corporate and got them to ban the feeding.....not anything in contract saying i couldn't feed a bird or squirrel....is this legal???? thank you, Kathy Phillips

It is probably legal. There are good reasons not to start feeding squirells and animals. They can create a problem for the area. See if the owner will allow it, that is the key -- not the maintenance guy, he is just an employee.
