Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
my rent was late this month on 11/2 i recieved a late notice which stated I had until 11/5 to pay rent and after that I have 15 days to pay rent including the late charge I informed my landlord that I would be paying it on the 11/18 which was a payday for me I had no way to get to the bank because my car is not working, so I then called the landlord and told him that I would for sure have it there on 11/19 because I would have a way to get to the bank he repeatedly called and texted me askin me at what time it would be there. the next day he started again and I told him it was there so he sent the maintance man to pick it up. When he got there to get it he checked a different drop box from the one I was instructed to put it in. I then recieved a text from the landlord saying " Now this is a problem for you, you lied me and the management", I really feel like I was being harrassed. I have already recieved a letter and I also know the day it has to be paid by with the late fee. I'm thinking about filing harrassment charges against him

If your rent was late, you owed the late fee. If you paid the late fee, then your landlord has no reason to keep calling/texting you. Send him a written letter, by US mail, telling him that you will either pay your rent on time, or you will pay it late, and include the late fee, and to please not contact you any further about the rent. Next time he contacts you, don't answer his calls or text messages, just pay your rent when it is due, get a receipt showing the date it was paid. If he is threatening you with physical harm, this is one thing, but if he is just bugging you for the rent, this is not really harassment, unless it is every day, or more than once a day. Keep a log of the calls, and text messages. If his behavior is really egregious, then contact the police.
