rent and responsibility
If I pay for my adult son's rent on an apartment in Florida and I pay directly to the landlord,but my name is not on the lease, can I be held legally responsible for anything ?

Probably not, but I would suggest you get a renter's insurance policy to protect against any possible liability issues. It is relatively inexpensive and will cover many unforeseen situations.
