Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Renters rights.

Our landlord had a communal mailbox that was open to the street with no lock on it, there was no other mailbox assigned to our living accomodation, our stimulis check was stolen and cashed, our new debit cards were intercepted as well other banking details. We asked that our landlord release from our lease which he did, arwe we entitled to our deposits back ? are we able to sue him for what we went through as well as the monies lost. The IRS are working a fraud claim with regards to the stimulis check.

Re: Renters rights.

Since you ended your lease early, you probably are not entitled to your deposit back, but it would depend on what your lease says and what you and your landlord agreed to.

When deciding whether your landlord is liable, ask yourself this: what did he do wrong? He didn't steal your stuff. He had a communal mailbox, but lots of apartments do. Doesn't seem to me that he is liable.
