Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I am renting an apartment in Miami, FL, and am no longer able to afford my rent because of a layoff. I was wondering how long i have before i have to move, and what steps to take?

eventually you will get evicted and there will be a judgment against you. Go see the landlord and see if you can work something out.

Look at your lease - it will tell you the eviction period if rent is not paid. However, I agree with Mr. Wagner, go to the landlord and see if you can work something out.

You will have to review your lease to figure out what you have to do to terminate the lease early (notice requirements) and how much you will have to pay. After doing that, give notice to your landlord and try to work it out, as the lawyers above suggest. If you just stop paying the rent, you will be evicted and may have to pay any rent due under the lease. Regards,
