Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I have been renting a house for over a year now. Rent is paid up to date. Recently, the owner texted me and asked me to lie to an estimator and say I wasnt renting it. I chose not too and because he was renting the home it disqualified him from the type of loan (reverse mortgage I believe). About a month later a lady put a for sale sign on my yard. The owner will not answer anf the realtor freaked out when I told them I was the current tenant. He apparently neglected to tell them someone lives here. The first year he made a lease, it didn't seem very legitimate but we never had issues so it wasnt a problem. As far as I knew and what I can show in texts, we were under agreement I would rent until I could qualify for the loan to buy. Or just continue to rent for an undetermined amount of time. Ive done work on the home I was supposed to be compensated for and wasnt. And he had also made promises to fix things that a year later are still broken. Can he really just sell the house while I am living here without any notice etc?

Yes he can. The new owner must honor your lease. If you dont have a lease, you could have an issue.

You need to take whatever paperwork you have to an attorney. An unlimited lease is not going to work. You may have a leasehold interest for some period of time.
