Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I am a resident of Florida. We signed a lease on an apartment. The lease says 12 months, but there was a calculation mistake and the dates add up to 13 months. So,now the lease says 12 months but Jul 1 to Jul 31.The landlord is not ready to talk about the mistake on paper and wants us to vacate only on July31 but we have already signed another lease and need to move on July 1.The landlord has threatened that if we leave the apt on July1, it would be 'abandoning' and will take legal action. What should we do in such a case?

If it was a mutual mistake, I doubt a court will enforce 13 months. Easier to try to work it out without court proceedings. Good luck.

Your landlord is being a bully. Since you both thought that it said one thing - now at the end of the lease the landlord is saying something different - i don't believe the court will hold you liable. You will of course have to fight him for your security deposit so know you will still have a battle with him.
