Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Hello, our residential lease states that there has to be a notice 60 days before the lease expires in an intent not to renew the lease. The lease would expire on Sept. 30th. Today (Oct. 12.) I got a letter from the property manager that they will increase the rent $55 on Oct. 1st. with the question if we will renew the lease or not. Did they not have to tell us that also 60 days before experation? Also the letter is very nonprofessional with one wrong date in it and the Property Manager's signiture is where our answer should go.

Unless the lease provides that this provision is mutual it is not. Unprofessional or not, it sounds like you need to respond to it appropriately.

By increasing the rent they are changing the terms. My opinion is that you can refuse and terminate.
