Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
Return of Security Deposit/Condo damage
There was a large rust stain on the living room carpet of the condo we rented that I was my fault. Our sofa with a metal frame was placed back on the carpet too soon after the rug was shampooed. Our landlord is withholding $500 of our security deposit (full replacement cost) for the damage despite the fact that the carpet is nine years old (we lived there for 5 years). Do we have any recourse?

Re: Return of Security Deposit/Condo damage
There are specific procedures outlined within Chapter 83, Florida Statutes, if you do not agree with your landlords position regarding the return of your security deposit. You can review those provisions at your local library.
