Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
My roommate claims she is filing eviction and damages notice against me. We never signed a lease and the agreed amount was $420 a month for rent and utilities. My dog has torn a piece of her carpet like i told her he would if she shut him in the bedroom and her dog broke my tv. She wants me to pay overages for the utilities and i refused since she has not paid her portion of any of the cable bills. She now claims that she will be sueing me for the damages and i should be hearing from her lawyer soon. She is also lying about many things saying i have been eating her food and stealing her dog food. I buy my own dog food and have been eating out for every meal since this started. We have put a lock on the bedroom door so she cant get to our stuff while we are not there. I have also done my best to just ignore her and avoid seeing her at all costs. She keeps sending me nasty text messages and harassing me. What are my rights? Also i told her we would be out by the end of the month and thats when she decided to file the eviction notice. To date i have not recieved any written notice of anything,

Move out, and sort out your differences with her personally. I don't think any lawyer is going to want to get involved with your claims about broken tv's and stolen dog food. This is the stuff of Judge Judy, not real law.
