Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
former Roommate left belonging
My former roomate left a spare tire and other belongings in her room. Our lease together expired 7/31. However, I have a new roomate coming in to occupy her former room and her belongings are still there even though on July 21st she wrote via The Facebook that her boyfriend would be picking up her belongings. Well, I waited PAST our lease termination date to have the landlord change the locks on August 6th. Her belongings were still there. What action can I take to get her belongings out before the new roommate occupies the space ? Thank you in advance.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
You should provide her with a final notice, preferably by certified mail so you will have proof of delivery, after which you can probably dispose of the belongings. You are not her landlord and the law does not speak to any responsibilities of former roommates.
