Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
My roommates recently moved out owing me over $700. Nothing was ever signed (lease, etc) although I have text messages of them agreeing to pay me what is owed. Can I sue them for the money?

You can sue in small claims court even without a signed contract. If you can establish the terms of the agreement with your documentation that may be enough. Be careful as the costs will have to be laid out first and you will be spending another $200 in filing and service fees before you ever get anything back or even a judgment. Getting judgment does not mean you get paid either. You may have to try and collect it thereafter.
